The Oregon Senate passed a bill 17-11 this week which gives the Oregon
Legislature final say in removing dams within the borders of Oregon. Senate
Bill 987 now goes to Gov. John Kitzhaber, who has already said he opposes
the bill.
The bill that originated in the Committee on Agricultural and Natural
Resources at the request of Oregon Cattlemen’s Association, gives the legislature
final approval before the Oregon Water Resources Department could order
