When yet another lake trout turned up in a gill net this fall, it only
added to suspicions that biological corruption is under way in Swan Lake, a
bastion for bull trout in Montana.
“It’s not a very good scenario,” said Scott Rumsey, a Montana Fish,
Wildlife and Parks fisheries biologist who has monitored Swan Lake for
years. “Most of our literature and our experience tells us that lake trout
will usually outcompete bull trout.”
