Difficult Year For Salmon Eating Colonial Waterbirds; Predators, Flooded Nests, Food Shortages

It’s been a bit of a nightmare this year for nesting Caspian terns at the Columbia River estuary’s East Sand Island and elsewhere across the Pacific Northwest with colonies besieged by predators, floods and, possibly, short food supplies.
