****Announcement about the Columbia Basin Bulletin
Posted on Thursday, March 28, 2019 (PST)

Since 1998 the Columbia Basin Bulletin has been a stakeholder information tool funded by the Bonneville Power Administration as a project under the Northwest Power and Conservation Council’s Columbia River Basin Fish and Wildlife Program.

Last summer BPA informed myself and the Council that it will be terminating funding for the CBB, as part of the agency's cost-cutting efforts, because it does not provide “direct fish benefits.” That funding is coming to an end in the coming weeks.

But the CBB is not going away.

We will keep you informed about future plans. It’s my belief that considering the ongoing and upcoming processes – new federal biological opinion for basin salmon and steelhead, the Council writing a new Basin Fish and Wildlife Program, hatchery vs. wild litigation, important research and many other issues – the need for information provided by the CBB continues.

In addition, over the last 20 years the CBB has accumulated Archives that for readers are the most extensive record of Columbia River Basin salmon and steelhead recovery efforts, and related issues.
